After inserting its batteries the Weather Station unit of my new WS1081 appears to stay in the ‘transmitter registration’ mode. This means the touch screen is never being enabled.

The manual says that the weather station will not allow the touch screen to be used until it has completed the transmitter registration process (also referred to as the ‘learning mode’) and that, after that process is complete, it will automatically switch to the normal display mode which allows the user to perform further setup using the touch screen.

Data from the transmitter is successfully being displayed on the weather station screen. Within a minute of inserting the batteries in the Weather Station unit, the outside temp & humidity, wind speed & direction, rainfall all begin being displayed, so the weather station is receiving data from the transmitter.

Even though data is being received from the transmitter and displayed, the “On/Off”, the “+” and the “-“ are not displayed on the screen, and the touch screen is not active. So it appears it is never coming out of the registration mode.

I have removed & replaced the batteries in each unit several times to reset the units, and in different orders, and there’s no change, the problem is consistently as describe above.

Has anyone seen this problem?
